The Introduction section of the book takes on the issue upfront - the companies grappling with a large scale software development work. The section makes it very clear that adopting Agile practices doesn't help either, in fact, it complicates the issues. The section candidly confesses that the authors are not attempting to create a bible, rather they are sharing their experience.Truthful, uncoated, shareable experience.
The book starts with the tools and actions that are required with higher emphasis for a large, multisite software development that follows Agile practices instead of traditional models like waterfall. There are twelve such chapters that focuses on actions and tools. It starts with testing, then moves to product management, planning and coordination.Subsequent five chapters focus on requirements management (PBI), design, architecture, legacy code integration, and continuous integration. All these chapters are organized by a set of takeaway points. Each such point are well illustrated, yet not too big.More importantly, those are relevant takeaway points.

Security in 2014: While hackers get better tools, the good guys will be in short supply
Mike Horn is the co-founder and CEO of NetCitadel, Inc.
For the casual observer, security predictions for 2014 might be as simple as declaring "more and scarier threats," but subscribing to that view is a gross over-simplification. Security isn't just about tools or attacks, but about the people involved. We see people, process, and technology changing in 2014 within the security industry:

#26 DEC 26 2013: YOU CAN WRITE WITH THE SIMPLEST OF DEVICES--BUT IT WOULD BE A FINE THING TO BE EQUIPPED WITH THE NEW MAC PRO. IT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWING! AND IT'S tiny!
When discussing technical matters, I am normally interested, frequently fascinated, and sometimes surprised--but rarely shocked.
About twenty years ago--perhaps a little more--I was shocked rigid when a friend in the computer industry told me that computers were now as powerful as were needed, but that the software still had to catch up.

GCL publishes Accusoft Hits PMA@CES With App Solution for Oversize Photo Files
ThinPic app shrinks JPEG photo files by up to 70% on iOS and Android devices. Tampa, Fla., December 31, 2013 - Accusoft will exhibit at PMA@CES 2014 January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada showcasing the powerful ThinPic file shrinking mobile app for photos; PICTools Photo, a lightning fast photo compression SDK; plus, other advanced imaging products from Accusoft(tm)s broad suite of imaging, document and content solutions.
Accusoft will demonstrate ThinPic, an app for Android and iOS devices that shrinks digital photo files on mobile devices by as much as 70%, saving storage space on the device, and dramatically reducing the data plan minutes required to share photos or transmit them to off-device storage. Because of Accusoft(tm)s patented compression technology, the smaller files preserve the full resolution, display/print dimensions and image quality of the originals, even when zoomed. When shared online in web pages, blogs or social media, the smaller files display much more quickly than the unmodified photos would.

iTexico Donated Funds Raised During Movember to a Charity in Mexico
After a successful charity fundraiser within the Mexican mobile development community, iTexico has donated all funds to local charities to help young people overcome their illness. Austin, Texas, December 31, 2013 - iTexico, an Austin based nearshore web and mobile app development company, has announced that they recently donated all funds raised in November to a local charity center in Guadalajara, Mexico. iTexico is supported by Dawcons, a software development company located in Guadalajara, Mexico. During November 2013, both tech companies joined forces to reach the mobile app developer ecosystem in the US and Mexico to raise funds for charity and create awareness for health care issues.
During the month of November, iTexico joined the Movember campaign with a little twist to make it its own. Because of the lack of official presence of Movember in Mexico, the team at iTexico decided to make their own campaign. "We were looking to maintain the Movember ideology present at all time while applying some of our own personality and reaching out to the mobile developer community to ignite a passionate response to help people. We knew that developers are kind at heart and we just needed to find the right way to ask for their help in making people's lives better. The response was marvellous and we are very proud of our community," said Anurag Kumar, CEO of iTexico.

API vs Library vs SDK [Self Note]
A LIBRARY is a collection of code that we can call from our own code, to help us do things more quickly/easily. For example, Let there is a class for pagination, and we just call the method of that class which does the pagination work.
An API (application programming interface) is a term meaning the functions/methods in a library that we can call to ask it to do things for us - the interface to the library.
