NBCUniversal: Interactive Drupal Application Engineer, Syfy.com

LOCATION: New York, NY

URL: This role is responsible for day-to-day development of projects for Syfy.com, Chillertv.com, emerging platforms, mobile and tablet apps, and other sites including Blastr.com and DVICE.com which are mostly built using Drupal 6/7. In addition to creating and managing systems to power applications created by internal and external groups, responsibilities also include managing and developing relations with internal central resources and outside vendors. This role reports to the Director of Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Code, test, and troubleshoot software using the appropriate tools under the limited guidance of a lead engineer

Follow accepted coding standards and best practices, using agile software development methodologies

Assist in maintaining existing software systems, including bug fixes, enhancements, and miscellaneous maintenance

Demonstrate clear progress and a willingness to advance towards a more senior role

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a minumum 1 year of Drupal experience

Understanding of the full Drupal stack from front end to back including drush, varnish, and cloud based deployments

Minimum 1 years of experience coding semantically-correct, standards-compliant websites with HTML, CSS, and Javascript

Proficient with code repositories including Git and SVN specifically

Demonstrated proficiency with PHP, HTML, CSS3, jQuery, and pure JavaScript

Understanding of mobile development best practices (i.e. responsive design, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, native apps)

Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs and schedules

Collaborate with the design team on the overall visual design for the application, including branding and navigational elements

1 year of industry or consulting experience

Ability to code solid cross-platform experiences
