MY REVIEW
The Sorcery Code started off exactly right and it just continued getting better. It is told in alternating P.O.V. of four characters, and rather than this being over-powering or confusing, it works well and adds a deeper layer to the story.
The main two characters (I believe) are Blaise and Gala and they are the "good guys" of the piece. Blaise is a powerful sorcerer who wants magic to be shared with everyone, not just a select, powerful few. He accidentally creates Gala in attempt to make magic accessible to all, which is where the story begins. Gala is a magical being who looks like a beautiful, young woman. The chemistry between her and Blaise is there almost from the start, even before she's fully understood what love and lust are. Both these characters are just gorgeous people and Gala is one of the most pure-hearted people you could imagine.
The "bad guys" (more accurately, the against-the-good-guys) are Augusta and Barson. Barson is a military man so he is more about following orders than deciding what's right or wrong, Augusta is the main baddie of the story though she isn't really all that bad. Augusta is afraid of new things, change, worried it will mess up her almost-perfect world, and she is more misguided than evil which is something I wouldn't have known if I hadn't seen her P.O.V. I really liked how she was written and though I wouldn't like to be her best friend, I thought her character was superb.
This book is fairly decently sized for a fantasy novel but as the story captured me so well I felt like everything was over way too soon. The pacing in the book was lovely and everything fell into place rather well but I was so lost in the story that I didn't realise I was near the end and my only real disappointment with this book is that I didn't get to savour it enough!
I loved pretty much everything about this book. The world buliding was great and I loved how complicated and mathematical this worlds magic was. The characters were all wonderfully written and a joy to read about. This book is not my usual YA but it is fantasy and I'd highly recommend if you love wonderful worlds, characters, and magic! Did I mention there's romance? ;)

Dima Zales is a full-time science fiction and fantasy author residing in Palm Coast, Florida. Prior to becoming a writer, he worked in the software development industry in New York as both a programmer and an executive.
