ABOUT THE ROLE:Do you like building awesome webapps? Do you like space? Don't you wish you could combine your love of kick-ass web-development with actual satellites in space? If so, Skybox is looking for folks like you to build elegant web-based user interfaces for the software that flies our upcoming constellation of earth observation satellites, and for the analysis and visualization of the satellite based imagery and data.

Skybox is using the latest web-based technologies to create entirely new user experiences. We are flying satellites from browsers making vast quantities of data manageable. We are making it possible for people to find the exact needle that they are looking for in a haystack of geospatial data.Our UI team presented on some of these technologies at the JQuery conference in San Francisco, check out the video here:

RESPONSIBILITIES:



*Build planned software features in collaboration with engineers and product owners

*Investigate and prototype new ways to make our data more usable

*Work with Program Managers to ensure on-time delivery of features. Deliver elegant, efficient and maintainable HTML5, CSS3 and Object Oriented Javascript code using agile practices that works across multiple browsers and devices (Chrome, Firefox, iPad, etc )

*Document code and solutions in a manner suitable for long term maintenance

*Provide advice on the future practices and standards of the Skybox development environment



QUALIFICATIONS:



*Bachelors degree or greater in Computer Science, EE or equivalent

*2-5 years of front-end development using HTML/CSS, and interest in UI design.

*Solid knowledge of web standards, cross-browser compatibility, and building in accessibility from the ground up

*Thorough understanding of software engineering best practices (including source control, test case execution, bug tracking, etc.) and knowledge of the software development cycle.

*Expertise with modular object oriented Javascript development and frameworks, JQuery.

*A passion for presenting data in an easy to consume environment like a map

*Experience with geospatial data libraries such as google maps API, MapBox, leaflet.js, etc.

*Extensive experience writing elegant, readable, maintainable HTML and CSS

*Excellent teamwork and communication skills; ability to understand and resolve complex and technical issues.
