Keeping JSP Development Alive

© Ed Yourdon
eXo started as an open source project, making an open source jsp development portlet container. It's first customer was the US Department of Defense in 2003, and other customers include Generali, Orange and Societe Generale. The original open source project was eventually merged with Jboss Gateln in 2009, and remains a component of the eXo Platform. The company now offers an open source Java framework for enterprise social software tools.
This includes reusable components for building content management systems, user management tools, activity streams, e-mail integrations, , and more. This week the company announced a new Web-based development environment for cloud applications called Cloud IDE. This new offering is seen as a way of keeping enterprise Java alive by simplifying the development process and providing easy access to the latest tools.
